IBE is Opening Doors!

IBE is Opening Doors For Enhanced DNA Publishing and other Small Black Businesses in Indianapolis!

As the Founder/CEO of Enhanced DNA Publishing, I was so excited when I was notified that I had been selected to participate in the inaugural cohort of the Indiana Black Expo (IBE) Black Business Training Institute. The 10-week program consisting of small Black business owners began in April and focused on practical business skills that were immediately able to be applied. During these 10 weeks, we were able to learn/expand upon business planning, branding, financial management and operations to name a few. Not only were we given excellent educational instruction, we were given the opportunity to practice what we learned by participating in the 2022 IBE Summer Celebration business activities! We have been invited to participate in the IBE Business Conference, the Mayor’s Breakfast and to be an exhibitor at the Black Wall Street Vendor Exposition Fair!!! This is huge!

Having lived in Indianapolis for the majority of my life, I grew up knowing about and participating in the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration. I remember when IBE was first started. Rev. Andrew J. Brown Jr., Willard B. Ransom Jr., and James C. Cummings Jr. founded Indiana Black Expo (IBE) back in 1971. According to the historical summary in Indy Encyclopedia, they modeled IBE after a similar event called Operation PUSH initiated in Chicago. These Indianapolis civic leaders organized the first one-day exposition at the Indiana State Fairgrounds to highlight the talents and achievements of African Americans and identify and address their challenges.

Since that time, the focal point of Black Expo is the summer celebration held every year in the middle of July. Its annual “Summer Celebration” has grown enormously over the years, extending from 1 to 10 days. It is billed as the largest African American event of its kind in the nation with various events attracting approximately 500,000 visitors.

This year, you will see Enhanced DNA Publishing at the Summer Celebration as an exhibitor in the Black Wall Street section of the IBE Exhibition Hall from July 15th – July 17th. Admission is free to the public and you will be amazed at all of the organizations, companies – both large and small, as well as the annual Minority Health Fair where there will be free health screenings and health education.

So I am so grateful to have been a part of the IBE Black Business Training Initiative sponsored by KeyBank. Thanks to all of the IBE staff, community entrepreneurs and to the sponsors for pouring into me and the other small business owners.

I am so, so excited to be a part of the 51st Indiana Black Expo!
